Sobat Kripto, consensus mechanism adalah cara node di blockchain network agree on truth tanpa central authority. Critical untuk decentralized system: tanpa consensus, tidak ada agreement on transaction validity atau order. Berbagai mechanism: Proof of Work, Proof of Stake, Delegated Proof of Stake, Proof of Authority, Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT), dll.
Major Types
Proof of Work (Bitcoin, Litecoin): computational puzzle, miner compete. Proof of Stake (Ethereum, Solana, Cardano): validator stake token, selected based on stake. Delegated PoS (EOS, Tron): token holder vote untuk delegate yang validate. PoA (BNB Chain): validator selected by central authority. PBFT (Hedera, Polkadot variants): traditional BFT consensus algorithm.
Trade-offs
Blockchain Trilemma: scalability, security, decentralization (sulit achieve all three). PoW: high security, low scalability, decentralized. PoS: better scalability, security via economic stake, generally decentralized. DPoS: high scalability, security weaker, less decentralized. Each chain optimize different combination berdasarkan priorities.
